BILLERICA – State Representative Marc Lombardo issued a statement today condemning the governing by scare tactic videos of his opponent Selectman Simolaris.
Anyone who watched the recent Selectmen’s meeting and witnessed the strong repudiation of Simolaris’s claims about the solar farm development of Pond St. would have to wonder if Simolaris is staging publicity stunts for attention for his campaign for State Representative.
Lombardo stated, “Whatever the merits of the solar projects, the fact is that Selectmen Simolaris voted to support and send them to Town Meeting. To cry wolf after, does nothing to bring back the trees or make other changes to the project. Creating false hysteria regarding carcinogens being put in the air is reckless and irresponsible.”
Lombardo continued, “I served on the Board of Selectmen and was always ready to take a stand on issues that mattered to me and the residents. I understood that to get things done, I had to do my own homework and know the facts. Then I had to work with other board members and the administration to get things done. Nothing is accomplished without building a case with facts and evidence.”
“When I got to the State House to represent Billerica, it reaffirmed what I had learned as a member of the Billerica Board of Selectmen. You need to do your homework, deal in facts, and you need to build relationships with a much larger body and more complex government to get results.”
The Billerica Board of Selectmen are five individuals with varying views on how to move Billerica forward. Yet last night, four of our five leaders loudly condemned Selectmen Simolaris’s tactics and the misinformation in the attention grabbing videos he disseminates.
As the campaign for State Representative moves towards November, Lombardo stated that will continue his work for the new high school, the Boys and Girls Club, and the Yankee Doodle Bike Path. He looks forward to making the case that he is the best candidate to keep taxes low, the economy strong, and to guarantee Billerica has a strong and reliable voice on Beacon Hill.
